The Washington Informer spotlights IdeaCrew’s partnership to abolish $12M in D.C. medical debt

The Washington Informer covered IdeaCrew’s partnership with Undue Medical Debt to purchase and abolish more than $12 million in medical debt held by District of Columbia residents. The initiative targeted residents earning less than four times the federal poverty level, or those whose medical debt exceeded five percent of their annual income.

IdeaCrew’s contribution helped relieve the financial burden for thousands of D.C. families who received notice that their debt had been erased — no strings attached. The partnership reflects IdeaCrew’s belief that strong communities are built by addressing the systems that leave people exposed, not just by responding after the fact.
